Gordon Timber

About Gordon Timber

Gordon Timber, based in Nairn in the Highlands of Scotland, has a long history of supplying high quality softwood timber to the home market.

The company was founded in 1862 and since the late 1880’s, has been led by four generations of the Gordon family. It is now recognised as one of the top sawmilling companies in the UK.

Gordon Timber employs 90 people at its Nairn site. In 1995 the company became the first sawmill in the UK to achieve Investors in People status. Through developing people in line with our business objectives and maintaining strong lines of communication, Gordon Timber has successfully integrated its harvesting, production and selling departments.

Our core business is converting roundwood grown in the North of Scotland into a comprehensive range of high quality sawn timber products for the fencing, construction and packaging markets. About 35% of Gordon Timber production goes to the construction markets. Slightly more (40%) is used for fencing. Wood from the sawmill at Nairn is also used for pallets and packaging.

Exciting times and further growth lie ahead for Gordon Timber, including the implementation of a new investment programme.
